Speaker Pelosi visits Clean Energy Works Oregon

Recently, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi came to Oregon to talk about the jobs the Federal stimulus investment has created in clean energy and energy efficiency here in Oregon. Speaking at Clean Energy Works Oregon headquarters with Congressman Blumenauer and Mayor Adams, Speaker Pelosi reminded us that energy efficiency and clean energy can create good jobs for Oregonians, and that Oregon is a national leader that must continue to innovate.

Clean Energy Works Oregon would not be up and running without Federal stimulus money, and it shows that when invested wisely, stimulus isn't just about spending money to create employment - it can create lasting change that transitions us away from dirty power and towards energy independence.
You can read about the event here.
The Speaker's visit highlights what we have accomplished, but it also is a reminder that our work isn't finished. In the next session, I'll be working with partners on bills to drive new financing structures for energy efficiency that don't rely on Federal stimulus. Energy efficiency reduces costs for rate-payers, creates jobs, and has a payback that is attractive to private investment. Next time Speaker Pelosi comes back, I hope we have even more to show her.
